OVERTONE WINDOW
with Eddie NEW every sunday at 11am REPLAY every monday at 8am
Honoring the tradition of the universally celebrated jazz brunch, Overtone Window brings two hours of jazz programming UncertainFM every Sunday at 11 a.m. EST. Hosted by Eddie Hebert, a lifelong lover of jazz in its various forms and amateur drummer, the show takes an expansive view on the time-honored question of “what is jazz?”, assembling a playlist that spans a century -- 1920s to 2020s -- and embarking on a journey through singers, big-band, bebop, hard bop, cool, avant-garde, soul, fusion, acid, Brazilian, electronic, and everything between and outside. The major players are here -- from Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Billie Holiday to Chick Corea, Pat Metheny, and Esperanza Spalding -- but the show draws open the curtains to shine light on a variety of artists. The name derives from a pun on Overton Window, and how that social policy range can also apply to jazz as debated between traditionalists and the avant-garde.
